Birthday

Yesterday was my 23rd birthday. Kind of a low key day, but Vivi and I got all dressed up and went out shopping, our own little girls day, which was fun. I think we'll make that our tradition, maybe next year we can start getting our nails done :)

After Eric got home from work, we met Brandon and Allison at Bahama Breeze for dinner, and then went to The Melting Pot for dessert.

I didn't even think about taking pictures at dinner but I do have a picture of our girls' day outfits

We also celebrated my birthday and Ryan's birthday at my parents over the weekend. Vivi helped us blow out the candles on our strawberry cheesecake ice cream dessert.

Finger lickin' good!

Vivi has started to find her fingers...or finger...or thumb...or fist, pretty much anything she can get in her mouth.  Except her pinky-its either too short or too thin, but whenever she gets ahold of it, she spits it out and tries again. She's not great at it yet, she usually gets frustrated and needs her pacifier anyway but there may be an end in sight to the 'pacifier game' she plays all night long :)

Jenavieve's appointment update

Jenavieve had a well visit at the doctor today. She did really well! She now weighs 9 pounds even, which is 22nd percentile, up from 3rd at her last visit, and is 21 inches long, which is 20th percentile.

The doctor was impressed again at how strong she is, and said she is developing well. She is petite, but very strong and healthy. She does want us to go see a specialist about the little space in her gums, just to make sure everything is normal, but said it is small and nothing to worry about.

We go back for her 2 month visit on July 14th, and sometime around then we will also have our first post placement visit!

Here's a picture of her in her pretty yellow dress yesterday, look at those chubby cheeks!

Pictures from Grandma Ruth's Visit

Grandma Ruth, or Great Grandma Ruth came up from Florida to visit this past week. We got to spend a lot of time with the family, which is always nice. Dick, Bonnie, and Aunt Sophie (she is actually Jenavieve's great great great aunt!) came down from Lansing to visit and see the baby one day last week too. On Friday we met my mom, Janelle, Grandma, and Amy at the mall to do some shopping. Jenavieve got some very cute shoes, pink dress shoes for now, and cute tennis shoes for later.

Happy Father's Day!

Click here to see a video of Vivi's favorite song!

We celebrated Eric's first Father's Day today. Vivi wore her special shirt to church, and gave him a frame with a picture of them for his office. We also celebrated with a pizza lunch.

6 weeks!

We cannot believe our little Vivi is 6 weeks old! And not only that, but on Sunday I was getting her dressed and her preemie onesies are now too tight, and her up to 7 pound sleepers are getting too tight as of last night. The newborn pants are still huge but the preemie pants look like capris because she is so long. I was so excited for her to get out of the minimal amount of preemie clothes we had because she has so much cute newborn stuff but now I'm a little sad to look at the tiny little onesies that don't fit her anymore. Its hard to believe she was that small!

In honor of her 6th week birthday, we put her in the same outfit she wore home from the hospital, and then staged some of the same pictures for comparison.

Smiles

I finally captured a smile today, will post her 6 week update later.

5 week bear picture

As Eric already posted, Vivi is 5 weeks old today, and we saw a couple more smiles from her today! According to the Wii Fit, she is 8 pounds! I also noticed while folding laundry today that the preemie onesies are looking small, and the newborn onesies aren't looking as huge as they used to. Our peanut is growing up!

Happy 5 Weeks Old

Jenavieve is 5 weeks old today, she smiled at me for the first time!!!

I wish I could have gotten a picture of it to share. I'm sure we'll get a good picture of it before she gets to be 6 weeks old =)

Vivi's shower

Vivi's shower was great! We had a good turnout, despite the amount of graduation parties going on that day, and had a lot of fun! We got a lot of great gifts, I was able to take a shower today while Eric was at work thanks to our vibrating baby seat! We got a lot of very cute outfits too, now we just have to get out of preemie clothes so she can actually wear them!

If you want to view the pictures at your own pace and in a bigger size, you can click here. I'm just testing out the slideshow feature.

I don't know why I didn't post this before

This picture goes along with her 4 week bear picture that I posted before.

And while I'm here, today is June 6th, meaning one month ago Vivi was born (Eric and I aren't sure how baby months are counted-is it every 4 weeks or every 6th of the month?)

Last night we were talking about how much she has grown and changed and Eric asked me to put her first bear picture next to the most recent one for comparison. We were shocked at the difference, so we had to share!

We have a 4 week old!

Yesterday Vivi was 4 weeks old, I can't believe it! And if the Wii Fit is right, she weighed 7.6 pounds last night! It was after a 3 ounce bottle, but that's still pretty big! She's still in preemie clothes, although she can wear newborn onesies now, they're just long and a little loose.

I think she may also have smiled for the first time yesterday. I was kissing her face and smiling at her and suddenly she smiled and her eyes lit up and she looked actually happy, as opposed to the newborn mouth only smiles, but I couldn't get her to do it today. She does look amused a lot of the time though when we talk to her.

We took her to the library for the first time on Monday, we got 2 books for newborns that are the black/white contrast, she seems to enjoy looking at them, and then 2 classical cds, one Mozart and one with a variety of popular songs.

She developed the sniffles a couple of days ago, I think because we turned on the heat for the first time in a couple of months to keep it above 70 in here. Thanks to facebook recommendations we picked up some Little Noses saline drops and set up the humidifier, and I spent the first night using the aspirator every 15 minutes, but it got better after that.

Last night was the Pioneer Club end of the year program. It was really good, it was my first time back since Vivi, and all the teenage girls in my class were excited to see and hold Jenavieve. They begged to take her home with them, until I invited them over for her 3am feeding, then they were suddenly uninterested ;)
