Mmm, leftovers...

Apparently, food looks much tastier AFTER it has been offered to the cat!

We drove through a subdivision garage sale and found this super cute little play kitchen. She got a pots and pans set for her birthday that she really likes, and since she's been so into opening and closing things lately, we thought she would like a kitchen. A lot of kitchens are thick and bulky and take up a lot of space but this one is nice and thin. She doesn't care too much about the toy plates and bowls inside, she pretty much just opens and closes all the doors over and over. Definitely a score!

Vivi's 1st ice cream cone

We went to Dairy Queen and got Vivi her very own cone. She LOVED it! I have a couple of cute videos, I'll have to get those up soon too.

Fun at the farm

We had a date with one of our mom's groups today at Maybury Farm, and since it is such a beautiful day, Eric decided to play hooky from work and come with us. We had never been to this farm before, it was very cool. They had some pens in the barn that you could go into and hang out with the animals. Jenavieve made friends with a goat, he kept rubbing on her and she kept hugging him. The calves liked her more than she liked them, they kept wanting to lick her face and chew on her beads.

Catching up

This weekend was BUSY! We had my mom's college graduation (yay!) on Saturday, and then Vivi's 1st birthday party on Sunday. She was pretty good for her party, a little overwhelmed by all the people though. She didn't want to go near anyone for awhile, but had fun playing with the other kids. She dug right into her cake and made a picture perfect mess, and once she realized it was food she just kept shoving it into her mouth. She even opened a few presents before getting tired and falling asleep on grandpa. We had a nice turnout and I think everyone had a good time.

Here are 2 web albums, one from mom's graduation and the other from the party.

We did some planting on the balcony today since it is FINALLY warm and dry enough to go outside and play! We planted sugar snap peas, chives, a lettuce mix, and some mixed flowers, and my mom gave us a tomato plant. Jenavieve had fun exploring all the parts of gardening, and even played in the dirt! Her favorite part was splashing in the pitcher of water. Hopefully this was good practice for helping in both her grandmas' gardens.

Vivi's birthday

We celebrated Vivi's birthday with the close family tonight. We went to 'our park' where Eric took me on a picnic for my birthday when we were teenagers, and where our rehearsal dinner was before the wedding. We had pizza and played, and then went to Coldstone for Vivi's first ice cream. She LOVED it and ate almost her whole cup!

12 months!

This is another outfit from Aunt Kana

Her birthday present from Mama and Daddy. She was very excited! (Mama and Daddy are excited that at this age all it takes is a ball to make her happy!)

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Last year, right about this time, we got the phone call that changed our lives forever. We talked to Kapri for the first time and she told us she wanted us to parent the baby inside her. We also learned that the baby was a girl, and that we had to get on the next plane to Utah.

As Vivi's friends have been approaching a year old, a lot of moms said that they felt like they had just found out they were pregnant. For us, I guess we could say it feels like we just got our homestudy done. It's funny how we've only known about our daughter since about 13 hours before she was born, and our ho-hum lives turned into the whirlwind of parenthood. And we're loving every minute of it!

Thank you Aunt Kana!

We got a package from Kana today for Vivi's birthday. She sent some very cute clothes, including the kimono style outfit in the picture below, a fish rattle (also in the picture), some super cute hair clips, and some packages of crackers, some shrimp flavored, some I don't know. Can't wait to see Vivi try those! She also sent a bunch of very very cute pictures of Rina, I'll scan them in and post them tonight!
