Is it spring yet?

Its snowing here. Again. January has been a much less busy month, which has been nice since we were pretty much non-stop from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve.

On Friday, we celebrated our 5th anniversary since we started 'officially' dating. We celebrated it on our anniversary eve by going to the Honey Tree, which is where we were the night we were officially a 'couple'. I know, we're so lame. But they did have a really good tzatziki that I was able to copy.

We share our special day with Joey, who was born that same day 5 years ago. We were invited to their house for a yummy birthday dinner and to play games. Mario Kart on the Wii is fun, and we had a lot of fun trying out the Wii fit that Belinda got for Christmas. It was really fun! So fun in fact, that we decided to make it our Valentine's Day gift to each other.

Since Valentine's Day is on a Saturday this year, the restaurants are going to be even more crazy packed, so we had decided to buy ourselves a new game (we haven't gotten any new ones since Christmas '07) and get take out and just spend the day together playing games. Ron told us that he had to get in line really early in the morning to get Belinda's, so we were a little worried about finding one, so on Saturday we woke up and started calling around. None of the 6 Gamestops in the area had them, but on a whim, we called Target, and they had them! We  rushed to Target, and they had about 10 of them. The guy said we came in on a good day. I called my parents to see if they were interested, since my mom had said she wanted one, and my dad met us up there and bought one for them too. They haven't opened theirs yet, they're waiting for Valentine's Day, but we couldn't resist!

I'm glad we started using it now though because I am SO sore! I wasn't too bad after the first day, but its day 3 and my arms and legs are both sore. It uses muscles I'm not used to using for some of the activities. I really like it though, it has a lot of fun activities for each of us. My favorites are the yoga poses and the step activity, and the ski jump, while Eric likes the strength exercises, the boxing, and the balance game where you have to get all the balls in the hole. We both enjoy the running, I like the scenery that they give you and that I don't have to leave the house, and they have a 2 player running that we like to do, although it doesn't count towards both people. We have begun battles in the different games, competing for the 1st place position.

And for the question you're all asking, nothing much has happened on the adoption front. We do know that our homestudy is about done, but we are changing agencies after it is done, because of some decisions the agency made. We really love our case worker, but some of the choices the director made seemed a little shady, so we'll be switching to the other agency we had been considering. They are glad to take us on, and things look pretty good for us with them. We'll keep you posted!

Happy Monday!

I know I've been posting a lot about me getting up and working out, but it gives me some sense of accountability and that seems to be motivating. So bear with me =)

Yesterday I did 2 sets of 20 push ups, which were still easy, but harder than they should have been.

Today I got up and started Jasmine car, then I did a set of 20 pushups and 25 sit ups. I don't want to push too hard and get burned out, so I took a break and played with the cats.

In other news, we had our last home study meeting with our case worker! She said she hopes to have our home study completed in two weeks! I am so excited!

December in review

December was an incredibly crazy month, my cell phone calendar had something on just about every single day! Parties, homestudy meetings, all of our adoption homework, although December is my favorite month, I'm a little glad all of the craziness is over, and January has been generally calm so far. Instead of trying to find time to write about it all, I decided to take all of the pictures from December and make a pictorial review. Here is the link, and be sure to read the captions (by clicking on the picture) which explain all of the events.

2008 was pretty good, but we're hoping 2009 will be even better! Here's to an amazing year!

Eric's office-late in posting

I wrote this blog weeks ago but for some reason it ended up in drafts and not getting published!

I finally got to go visit Eric at work and meet his coworkers and see his office. Everyone was very friendly, and the office was all decorated for Christmas.

I think the cats are in denial about getting bigger.
They all want to fit in the same small places they always have, and they're too stubborn to admit that they can't. Here are Zoe and Kiara, neither one wanting to be the one to move, so they just sat there in the cat bed, both looking uncomfortable.

As an early Christmas gift, they got a new little cat condo. Actually my parents got a new one for their cats but it wasn't what they thought it was, so we traded. They had a lot of fun helping Eric put it together

I did it!

I got up early and got a workout in, I love DDR!

I think I am going to slowly ease myself into going to the gym in the morning instead of working out in the living room, maybe once a week to go running on the treadmill.

I work with a guy who runs 1/2 marathons and is more than twice my age, so I have to keep up!

In other news, our final meeting with our home study caseworker is this Sunday at our house!!! We turned in our application on November 3rd and we should have our completed home study on file by the end of January!

1/2 way through the week

I am already falling behind on my workout schedule, time to buckle down and get up early tomorrow!

At least I get some exercise when I am working on teaching spiritual and physical fitness in my Pioneer Clubs class =)

Workout

I did not get up as early as I wanted to this morning, but I still had time to start Jasmine's car and play 6 songs on Dance Dance Revolution. The cats love to watch me play, I think they think I am crazy.

I am working my way through every song on standard, then I will move up to heavy (at least that is the plan)

No push ups today, those will be tomorrow. I am still shooting for the 100 push up goal...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

This year will be different...

My resolution for 2008 was to get back into shape by going to the gym 2-3 times a week.

My total gym visits (yes this is the fitness room that is a 2 minute walk from our front door) was 3 for all of 2008.

New goal for 2009 - Work out twice a week.

I am off to a good start (just like last year), I got up this morning and did 4 sets of 20 push ups in between playing DDR, it was a 20 minute work out.
