Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. -James 1:2-3

Christmas, take 2-Christmas morning
We had a great Christmas today! My parents, sister and brother-in-law came over and the kids played with their Santa toys, then we had a yummy brunch of bagels and lox with all the fixings and fruit salad (and pancakes for the kids-their favorite!) and then we went back to exchanging gifts. We sort of forgot to take pictures of the adults but we got good gifts too-I finally got a new waffle maker so I can have waffles again! Our old one broke a few months ago and a waffle maker is pretty low on the list of things to spend money on. Eric got a cast iron pot that we can use on our wood stove. I guess one of the things on top can be used for cooking, maybe if we see winter again this season we can make soup and eat it in front of the fire!
I have tons of good pictures of the kids, so many that instead of posting them here I made a web album. You can see the pictures in the slideshow below, or if you want to look at them at your own pace (and bigger pictures with captions) you can click here.
It was a very merry Christmas, and worth the wait!

painting fun
One of the gifts Santa left in each of the kids' stockings was their own paint palette! We only had one before that the girls shared (sort of) and I knew it would never work to share between 3 kids! They were so excited all day to get to paint, and we finally got a chance this evening!

Christmas, take 2
We decided to wait to do our family Christmas until Jebriel was home. We thought he would be home before Christmas and had all of his presents bought, and didn't want to leave his unopened while we gave the girls theirs.
I told Jeb this was his stocking, and he sat down to put it on his feet!

Our stockings were hung, on the hand-me-down couch with care... ;)

Some before bed tree pictures

We left a plate of chocolate for Santa, but I didn't get any pictures of that because letting them put chocolate on a plate and then telling them they couldn't eat it made them all cry. After that, we didn't bother with milk or treats for the reindeer, maybe next Christmas. Santa will understand.
Merry Christmas!

Around the house this week
Exhibiting some very boy play behavior
Taking Journey for a ride in the hamper-I couldn't get a good picture but she was THRILLED!
Helping daddy with a pipe leak
After watching the horses out his bedroom window for a couple of weeks, he finally asked to go see them. They are friendly horses and are used to getting treats from people, so when you walk up to the fence, they'll come to you to check you out. Jebriel ran back to the house screaming :( Vivi was so cute with them, I snapped a couple of quick pictures before we went back to comfort Jebby. She was saying "hello Red, how are you today? I am good!"
Hello Jessie!
Back in our own yard, Jeb recovered and wanted to stay outside and play. Putting the sleds to good use, I had them on a stick hunt for kindling for the woodburner. They loved it and filled both sleds! Now if we could get them to chop wood...
